The Korean Language & Culture Program (KLCP) was first developed in 1969 by SNU's Language Education Institute to provide intensive Korean language training to foreign students admitted to Korean universities and to others interested in learning about Korean language and culture. Considering learning a less commonly taught language at college? In conjunction with their Center for Language Technology, more than 70 languages have been taught at IUB—including instruction in Bengali, Estonian, Lakota, Quechua, and Wolof. The Center supports three National Flagship Programs and two National Language Resource Centers.

Global Engineering Programs
Many schools have established Global Engineering programs in view of the global trends in the profession, and where proficiency in a language other than English and study abroad are mandatory or strongly encouraged. The American Society of Engineering Education identified proficiency in 2 or more languages as a key attribute of a globally-oriented engineer capable of effectively living, working, or performing in a global setting.

A national initiative to change the way Americans learn languages, the Language Flagship offers undergraduate courses in critical languages including Arabic, Chinese, Hindi Urdu, Korean, Persian, Portuguese, Russian, Swahili, and Turkish. Welcome to the World Languages Program at the University of West Florida!
In order to understand our own cultural heritage and the thought patterns that inform it is to compare them to cultures and languages that are different from our own. By stepping into another cultural space—through language, literature, film and popular culture—we learn to appreciate who we are. We also learn to look at the world from a different perspective and more fully comprehend the range and complexities of human life.
The World Languages Program at UWF is committed to providing students with the opportunity to embark on this exciting journey. From basic classes for beginners of a language to advanced courses in literature, culture, film and civilization, UWF language students engage in meaningful activities as well as in career-enhancing strategies - including learning to communicate in a foreign language, understanding and working within cultural diversity, applying historical background knowledge, negotiating meaning and problem-solving.
In small classes and a student-centered environment, our faculty is committed to enhance students’ linguistic and cultural literacy.
We offer a minor in Spanish as well as courses in Japanese, Spanish, and Latin.
